Telegram

A free messaging service that requires a mobile phone numbner. This is my prefered app, as it's capable of transfering any kind of file up to 2g, and has unlimited video and voice calls, with screen sharing and other great features. Once signed up, you can use the app on any browser for easy transfers and calls.
